Dayton Arcade is now brilliantly illuminated!

The Dayton Arcade is a collection of nine interconnection buildings located in the central business district  of Dayton, Ohio. It was originally built between 1902 and 1904 by Eugene J. Barney as a mixed-use development. Constructed during the historical “Progressive Era”, it featured the latest innovations of the time such as elevators, a power plant and a cold storage plant. The architect was Frank M. Andrews who showcased a Flemish façade design and Italian Renaissance Revival styling. A highly notable architectural feature is the glass-domed rotunda, which is 90 feet across and 70 feet high.

In 1974, the Arcade was placed on the National Register of Historical Places. However, this once vibrant and architecturally elegant downtown complex was closed for over 30 years. After extensive renovations by current owners Cross Street Partners, the Dayton Arcade officially reopened in August 2021; reimagined with the original mixed-use environment but with a unique focus on an arts and culture center.

Thanks to the sponsorship of the AES Ohio power company, the iconic Dayton Arcade is now brilliantly illuminated. The project lighting designer was Amy Laughead-Riese from 37V Lighting Studio, the distributor was Villa Lighting, and the electrician was Garber Electric. The exterior cove and graze luminaires utilized were the CLZMF ColourLine Lazer Micro Flood and CLZWET ColourLine Lazer Wet from Solid State Luminaires.
