The New School, NY

The New School is a private non-profit research university centered in Manhattan, New York City, located mostly in Greenwich Village. To add the modern design appeal that the architects and lighting designers envisioned, FC Lighting and Solid State Luminaires were contracted to develop and manufacture custom lighting to be used throughout the facility. The designs consisted mostly of linear LEDs in aluminum housings customized to fit climbing stairwells and larger open areas like the main dining areas and library. Each housing is a custom fitted piece, measured and manufactured to fit each section of space and stairwell. The larger rooms with exterior windows utilize photo sensors to control the LED lighting as needed. This is evident where the linear runs approach the windows in daylight.
